Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Carroll Volleyball Outlasts Rocky in Five Sets

BILLINGS, Mont. - The Carroll College Volleyball team opened their weekend with a five set win over Rocky Mountain College at the Frontier Conference Preseason Tournament in Billings on Thursday.

Carroll got back to their winning ways after an extended period of rest, not having played any games last weekend.

It was a rough start to the night for the Saints, dropping the first set 25-11. Rocky came out of the gate hot, opening up a 7-0 lead, and Carroll was not able to narrow the gap. The offense was not clicking for the Saints, as they only managed to get 4 kills in the frame.

Things would turn around in a hurry, as Carroll would take the next two sets, 25-21, 25-22. Carroll faltered again in the fourth set, losing 25-13, and hitting just .073 percent as a team, but managed to hold off the Battlin' Bears in the fifth set, 17-15, to secure the win.

Katherine McEuen (Spokane, Wash. / SR) had a tremendous showing, leading the Saints with 32 digs. McEuen also shared the high-kill total (13) with Elizabeth Heuiser (Helena, Mont. /SO). Hannah Schweikert finished the night with 42 assists.

Rocky was led offensively by Makenna Bushman and Rhiannon Nez, who each totaled 14 kills, and Blythe Sealy who tallied a game-high 47 assists.

Carroll will return to the court tomorrow for a pair of matches. The Saints will play Providence at 11 a.m., followed by an evening match with MSU-Northern at 5 p.m.
