HELENA, Mont. - The NAIA released its week one Volleyball National Player of the Week honors on Tuesday Morning. Carroll's
Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / JR) has been named the National Defensive Player of the Week.
Carr had a tremendous weekend, leading the Saints to four victories at the Ottawa University (Ariz.) Tournament in Surprise, Ariz., including wins over (RV) Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) 3-0, and No. 17 Ottawa (Ariz.).
Carr, a 2021 First Team All-Frontier Conference Defender, soaked up everything in sight over the weekend, totaling 76 digs over the four games, an average of 5.07 digs per set. In addition, she was responsible for 13 assists, 1 kill, and 5 service aces.
"We could not be more excited for Julia," Said Head Coach Moe Boyle "She had an absolutely terrific weekend in Arizona. Julia has put in the time and work to earn this recognition, and her outstanding play is a reflection of how well our team as a whole is playing at the moment."
The honor is the first national accolade of Carr's career, and the first time since 2019 that a Carroll Volleyball player has earned the weekly national recognition.
