NEW ORLEANS, La. – Scholar Athletes of the Year and All-Academic Athletes for the 2022 NAIA Men's and Women's Track & Field season were announced on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Carroll College Track & Field was well represented on the list, with nine student-athletes (four men and five women) announced as All-Academic selections.
The Saints Men's honorees include:
Shamrock Campbell (Spokane, Wash. / SR), Brett Glaser (Glasgow, Mont. / JR), Van Gottwals (Billings, Mont. / JR), and Lee Walburn (Whitefish, Mont / JR).
The Saints Women's honorees include:
Madde Boles (Kalispell, Mont. / JR), Chloe Gallagher (Genoa, Ill. / SO), Elly Machado (Castleford, Idaho / SR), Kate Picanco (Spokane, Wash. / JR), Reghan Worley (Evanston, Wyo. / JR).
"We expect to have academic success at Carroll College Track & Field," Said Head Coach Harry Clark. "This is a spectacular validation of our program's efforts."
Overall, there were more than 600 athletes who were named All-Academic Athletes in both NAIA Men's and Women's Track & Field.
The criteria to be named an NAIA All-Academic Athlete include a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 3.25 on a 4.0 scale through the end of the semester of competition, student-athletes must have completed at least 24 semester hours through the end of the semester of competition at the institution, and the student-athlete must have achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark for either the indoor season or outdoor season.
