ASHLAND, Ore. – The Carroll Softball team dropped two games at Southern Oregon to open their weekend Cascade Conference series on Thursday afternoon, falling 3-0 in the first game and 9-0 in the second game.
The Raiders got their bats going in the first inning of game one, with Riley Donovan hitting a two-run home run. They added another run in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly.
Abby Hanley pitched all seven innings of the first game, only allowing three runs and striking out six batters, but the Saints' offense was held in check in a 3-0 loss.
The second game was a different story with the Southern Oregon offense exploding in the later innings. Carroll kept it to a 2-0 deficit through three innings, but the Raiders would go on to score seven in the next three innings to win 9-0 on the mercy rule in six innings.
Carroll and Southern Oregon will go toe-to-toe in another double-header on Friday at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. MDT. Those games can be streamed online here:
