ASHLAND, Oregon – The Carroll College Saints Softball Team suffered two losses Saturday afternoon in Ashland against the ninth ranked team in the nation, the Southern Oregon Raiders.
In game one, Abby Hanley pitched for the Saints and recorded a pair of strikeouts, but the Raider offense continued on their hot streak and scored eight runs to win the game 8-0.
Offensively, the Saints got a hit from Kristen Norris, but the rest of the lineup struggled against some tough pitching from Cayla Williams. Williams recorded seven strikeouts in game one and walked only one batter.
Ashton Cathey was the big bat on offense for the Raiders in game one with three hits for five RBIs, including two home runs.
Southern Oregon won game two 16-2. The Saints registered two hits on offense, one from Jessica Nimmo and one from Haley Kampka with RBIs coming from Kampka and Kristen Norris.
The Saints found it difficult to hold down the Southern Oregon offense however as three Raiders checked in with 3 RBI games.
Next up for the Saints will be an exhibition Tuesday in Missoula against the University of Montana Grizzlies.
