Helena, Mont. – Several Carroll athletes will travel out of state over the upcoming week for competitive invitational meets.
Lee Walburn will compete in the decathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azuza, Calif. starting on Wednesday morning and continuing Thursday. Walburn won the decathlon at last year's NAIA Outdoor Championships and placed 2
nd at this year's NAIA Indoor Championships in the heptathlon. Only around 40 entries for the decathlon were accepted into the meet, and Walburn will largely be up against NCAA Division I competition.
Nikki Krueger will throw the shot put at Bryan Clay on Friday afternoon. Krueger placed 4
th at this year's NAIA Indoor Championships after winning last year. She is currently qualified for this year's Outdoor Championships with the NAIA A Standard and ranks 2
nd overall in the NAIA.
Further east,
Garrett Kocab will compete in the shot put and discus at the University of Central Missouri Mule Relays in Warrensburg, Mo. on Friday. Kocab has qualified for nationals four times including achieving the NAIA B Standard in the shot put this spring. He is currently ranked 22
nd in the shot put and 19
th in the discus nationally in the NAIA.
"These are great opportunities for our nationally competitive athletes to line up in good weather and awesome atmospheres," said Head Coach
Harry Clark. "We hope it pushes them to rise to the occasion and take advantage of the strong competition."

For the Mule Relays, Men's Shot Put will begin at 3:45 pm MDT and Discus at 6:00 pm MDT on Friday.
