CALDWELL, Idaho – The Carroll Softball team dropped two games against No 5. College of Idaho in Caldwell on Saturday. The Yotes won the first game 5-1, and the second game 5-4.
Jessica Nimmo led off the first game for the Saints with a solo shot. That would wind up being the only run for Carroll in game one.
College of Idaho responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first on a solo home run and an RBI double.
The score held for the next four innings, until the Yotes added a three spot in the bottom of the sixth and put the game out of reach.
In the second game, Carroll found themselves in a 4-0 hole going into the fifth inning, looking to fight back.
Sydnee Paul got things going in the fifth with an RBI single that scored
Haylee Curry.
Amber Brewer added two more with a double that brought in
Kenna Thomas and
Jessica Nimmo.
Down 5-3 in the seventh, the Saints rallied again and scored a run on a
Haley Kampka single. They were unable to get another run in, and the Yotes went on to complete the sweep.
Carroll will hit the road again next weekend as they head to Eugene, Ore., for a four-game series against Bushnell University.
