HELENA, Mont. – The seventh-ranked Carroll Women's Basketball team secured their third straight win on Saturday, fending off Montana Western 74-57 at the PE Center.
The Saints came out of the gate clicking on all cylinders, finding an early rhythm on both ends of the floor. At the end of the first quarter, Carroll led 21-10.
Montana Western clipped the Carroll lead down to eight points, as the score was 38-31 heading into half time.
Carroll kept their cool in the second half and out-paced the Bulldogs, leading to a 74-57 victory.
Jamie Pickens put on an offensive clinic in the win for the Saints, finishing the game with 23 points and 10 rebounds on 9-of-10 shooting.
Danielle Wagner scored 14 points,
Christine Denny scored 13, and
Sienna Swannack and
Maddie Geritz each added 10.
Kamden Hilborn played the role of facilitator, finishing with an impressive 11 assists.
Brynley Fitzgerald was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs with a team-high 16 points.
Following Saturday's win, the Saints are now 21-5 and 9-3 in conference play. Both No. 18 Rocky Mountain College and No. 16 Providence won today as well. With three conference games left, Rocky is in sole possession of first place at 10-2 in conference and Carroll shares second place with Providence, who is also 9-3 in league play.
Carroll now turns their focus toward another pair of critical Frontier Conference games next week, hosting Montana Tech on Thursday night before traveling to Rocky on Saturday.
