HELENA, Mont. – The 12
th ranked Carroll Men's Basketball team defeated MSU-Northern 80-66 on Thursday night at the PE Center to secure their third straight victory.
The Saints were on fire out of the gate, shooting a scorching 64.71 percent in the first half. After 20 minutes of basketball, Carroll led Northern 52-29 behind 22 first-half points from
Jovan Sljivancanin.
Northern found their footing in the second half, but it ended up not being enough to close the gap on the lead that the Saints had built up. In the end, Carroll dribbled the clock out to the tune of an 80-66 victory.
All five of Carroll's starters finished the game in double figures on Thursday night.
Jovan Sljivancanin led the way with 24 points, which was a game high.
Brendan Temple scored 15,
Shamrock Campbell had 13,
Jonny Hillman finished with 11 and
Andrew Cook added 10.
The leading scorer for the lights was David Harris with 17 points.
After tonight, the Saints (22-3, 9-2) still remain in second place in the Frontier Conference standings behind No. 20 Montana Tech, who is now 10-1 in conference play. Just four games remain in the regular season.
On Saturday, Carroll will welcome a tough Montana Western team to the PE Center for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
