HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll Men's Basketball team fell just short in the Frontier Conference Championship game on Monday night at the PE Center. A Drew Huse shot with just four seconds left lifted the Orediggers to a 62-61 victory.
The first half of the game was very back and forth, as leads continued to change throughout the opening 20 minutes of play.
A three-pointer by
Shamrock Campbell and a bucket by
Brendan Temple put Carroll a head by three heading into the half time break.
Carroll led for almost the entirety of the second half, but the deficit was never greater than six points.
Montana Tech found themselves down by one point in the final 30 seconds of the game, with the ball in their hands. Sindou Diallo drove into the lane, ran into some traffic, and kicked it out to Drew Huse who hit a two-point jumper and gave his team their first lead of the second half at 62-61.
Following a timeout, Carroll had 2.5 seconds to move the ball the length of the floor and get a shot off. A traveling violation on the Saints prevented a final shot attempt and Tech went on to win 62-61.
Shamrock Campbell paced the Saints in scoring with 17 points.
Jovan Sljivancanin added a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Sindou Diallo led Montana Tech with a game-high 18 points.
Next up for the Saints, they will wait to hear their name called during the NAIA National Tournament Selection Show on Thursday. The selection show will air on the Play NAIA Facebook page at 6 p.m. MST.
Carroll will be hosting one of the 16 opening round pods on March 11-12 as they look to punch their ticket to Kansas City.
