HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College Softball team lost twice at Centennial Park Saturday afternoon against the Corban Warriors. The Saints suffered a 4-2 loss in game one and a 6-1 loss in game two of the doubleheader.
Abby Hanley pitched well for the Saints in game one, but unfortunately the three run home run by Corban's Reagan Davis was enough to give the Warriors an advantage they were able to hold onto for the rest of the game.
Hanley pitched the complete 7 inning game for the Saints and ended with 6 strikeouts.
On the offensive side for the Saints in game one, Kaitlynn Ayers was the story with a sac fly in the first inning and a home run to right center field in the fourth. Kirsten Norris also registered two hits for the Saints in game one.
In game two, the Saints struggled to manufacture much offensively as they were scoreless until the Bottom of the 6th.
Corban had solo home runs from Taylor Beasley and Kaycee Arase in the first and fourth innings respectively, before a four run sixth from the Warriors on a string of seven hits.
The lone score for the Saints came off the bat of Kenna Thomas in the bottom of the sixth on a hard hit ball to left field.
Holly Gonzales pitched the entire game for the Warriors and held the Saints to the one run, despite the Saints tallying seven total hits.
The Saints will look ahead to their doubleheader with Corban Sunday afternoon with games at 11 am and 1 pm at Centennial Park to earn their first win in conference this year.
