HELENA, Mont – The Carroll Softball team was swept by Corban in a double-header on the second day of their weekend series. Corban won the first game 7-5 before cruising to a 19-8 win in game two.
The first game was blown open early on by the Warriors. Corban scored five unanswered runs in the first two innings to jump out to a big lead.
Carroll found themselves in a 7-2 hole heading into the final frame.
Haley Kampka drilled a three-run homerun to close the gap to 7-5, but the comeback effort fell short for the Saints. Kampka totaled four runs batted in in the first game.
The second game was highlighted once more by a got start for the Warriors. Corban pushed seven runs across the plate in the top of the first.
This time around, the Saints were able to rebuttal right away. Carroll scored two runs on an error, then
Jessica Nimmo and
Whitney Durocher each hit RBI singles to cut the deficit to just 7-4 heading into the second inning.
Corban, however, ran away with game two in the next three innings. An eight-run fourth inning for the Warriors headlined what would be a 19-8 final score in five innings.
Carroll, now 1-8 on the year and 0-3 in Cascade Conference play, will hit the road next weekend as they travel to Northwest and look to notch their first conference wins of the season.
