HELENA, Mont. – Wednesday night at the PE Center, the Carroll College Women's Basketball team dominated the Skylights of MSU-Northern by a final score of 73-39 in the quarterfinal round of the Frontier Conference Tournament. This win advances Carroll to the Semifinal game Saturday night in Great Falls against Providence.
From the tip, the Saints jumped out to a huge lead, which resulted in a 25-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. 48-20 was the lead at halftime, and the Saints kept the Skylights at bay in the second half to close the game out.
Jamie Pickens was the lead the Saints on the offensive end with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Joining Pickens in double figures was Christine Denny (13), Sienna Swannack (11), and Danielle Wagner (10).
In the midst of holding the Skylights to 39 points, Carroll was able to force 20 turnovers and hold MSU-Northern to just under 16% from three and 32% from the field overall.
For the Skylights, Peyton Kehr scored 16 points on 6-11 shooting from the field.
Carroll, who is the three seed in the Frontier Conference Tournament, will now set sites on the aforementioned semifinal matchup with second-seeded Providence. That game will tip-off at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Fifth-seeded Montana Tech will play at the top seed, Rocky Mountain College, on the other side of the bracket.
