Women's Basketball | 12/09/22 | 11:21 AM
LEWISTON, Idaho - The No. 9 Carroll College Women's Basketball team is back in action on Friday, taking a road trip West to square off with No. 13 Lewis-Clark State at 6 p.m. (MST) in Lewiston, Idaho.
The Fighting Saints (6-3) are no strangers to stiff competition, having played five teams currently ranked inside the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll Top-25. The Saints are also no strangers to tonight's competition, Frontier Conference foe Lewis-Clark State (6-1).
The Saints and the Warriors have a long and competitive history, dating back to their time as conference opponents. Dating back to 2004, Carroll holds a 19-11 advantage over the LC State, but it is the Warriors who have the most recent wins in the series.Â
Lewis-Clark State beat Carroll twice in the 2020-21 season, the second time being the final blow to a promising Carroll season. The Warriors pulled off a 76-67 win in the NAIA National Tournament to end the Saints' championship hopes.
Several members of that 2020-21 team, including
Jamie Pickens (Helena, Mont. / Sr),
Kamden Hilborn (Clancy, Mont. / GR), and
Sienna Swannack (Nine Mile Falls, Wash. / GR) are still at Carroll, and will surely be looking for a bit of revenge tonight in Lewiston.
Pickens enters tonight's game third in the Frontier Conference in points per game (15.2) and fifth in rebounds per game (6.9), and will look to continue her stellar play.
The No. 13 Warriors are led by Callie Stevens, who enters the night averaging 17.9 points per game on the year.
