LAKELAND, FLa. - The No. 11 Carroll College Women's Basketball team beat Southeastern University 62-53 on Tuesday to finish a three-game Florida road-trip.
The Fighting Saints (9-4, 2-0) put a cap on a cross-country voyage, securing a 62-53 win over Southeastern (6-7), avenging an early season loss from 2021.
Carroll would find themselves down 9-15 after one quarter of play. The Saints shot just 25 percent from the field, while the Fire were much more effective, shooting nearly 50 percent from the field in the first frame.
The Saints would level things out in the second quarter. Southeastern, again shooting 50 percent, was held to just 10 points in the frame by a stingy Carroll defense. A much better shooting performance from the Saints would see them take a one point advantage into the halftime break.
Kyndall Keller (Havre, Mont. / JR) would help break things open for the Saints in the third quarter, scoring nine of her 13 points, and adding three rebounds in the period. Carroll would outscore the Fire 20-14 in the third to carry a seven-point lead into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth, Senior leaders
Jamie Pickens (Helena, Mont. / SR) and
Sienna Swannack (Nine Mile Falls, Wash. / GR) would score six and five points, respectively, to put the game on ice. Carroll would close out their trip with a 62-53 win heading into a Christmas break.
Jamie Pickens finished with a game-high 18 points,Â
Kyndall Keller finished with 13 points, and both Swannack and
Genesis Wilkinson (Newman Lake, Wash. / SR) would add nine points of their own.
Anja Knoflach led the Fire in scoring, finishing with 16 points.
Kamden Hilborn (Clancy, Mont. / GR) would finish the game with five assists, setting up a chance to become Carroll's all-time leader in assists when the Saints host Lakeland College on Thursday, Decmber 29.
