HELENA, MONT. - Carroll College Senior Maddie Geritz (Boise, Idaho / SR), a Forward on the Women's Basketball team, has been named a 2022 Montana Athletes in Service award winner. Geritz, along with other student-athletes from Montana colleges and universities was honored during the 121st Brawl of the Wild game in Bozeman, Mont. on November 19 for her dedication to serving those in her community. 

• Geritz is the Carroll Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) President and Frontier Conference ASA representative, and she organizes and participates in the following events annually:
• SAAC blood drive & Women's Basketball blood drive.
• SAAC Thanksgiving Food Drive -  In the last three years, she has gotten turkeys donated for over 20 families in Helena Community and organized teams to put together baskets for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for families in need. 
• Angel tree donation - The Carroll WBB team selects a family and Geritz organized the donations and delivery of presents.
• Speaking engagements at local elementary & middle schools.
• Champion of Character presenter - encourages students to "step up their game" in their classroom, school, homes and communities by applying the Champions of Character Core values: respect, responsibility, servant leadership, integrity and sportsmanship.
• Volunteers to work other athletic events on campus.
• Participates in campus awareness presentations.
• "Big Sister" role within the Women's Basketball team in supporting other athletes through mental health crises and issues.
• Participates in helping with Special Olympic events as well as assisting with the Women's Basketball "special assistant" by taking her to lunch, on errands, to work out, or just spend quality time with.
• Most importantly, Geritz is always looking for ways to make a positive difference at Carroll College, and the Helena community.

Maddie Geritz is truly one of the best and brightest at Carroll College, and Carroll Athletics commends her for her dedication to bettering the lives of those around her.
