HELENA, Mont.- The Carroll College Women's Soccer team defeated Oregon Tech 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Nelson Stadium.
The Saints battled in a scoreless first half, in which they had the majority of the possession despite being out-shot ten to five. Neither team was able to put together much of an attack, with the majority of play taking place near midfield.
Jaymee Sheridan (Helena, Mont. / SO) led the Saints to victory this afternoon. Sheridan opened up the scoring in the 63rd minute, putting Carroll up 1-0. She then added another in the 76th minute, her third goal of the season, assisted by Emily Funseth (Great Falls, Mont./ JR), to give Carroll a two goal lead late in the game.
The Saints earned their fifth shutout of the season thanks to a stellar performance by Bonnie Martin (Mill Creek, Wash./ JR) and the rest of Carroll's back line.
The Carroll Women had not beaten the Owls since the 2019 season, Sunday's win was a testament to the talent of this year's roster.
The Saints will now have some rest and head into a bye-week. Carroll will play their next game against the College of Idaho on October 21, at 2 p.m. in Nelson Stadium.
