Men's Soccer | 10/09/22 | 10:02 AM
HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Soccer teams will wrap up their play for the week, with both teams hosting Oregon Tech on Sunday afternoon at Nelson Stadium in Helena.
The Carroll Women (7-3-3, 4-2-1) come into this afternoon's matchup looking to end a two-game skid, having dropped matches to Northwest and Southern Oregon in the past week. The task will not be easy, Oregon Tech (4-1-3, 3-0-2) comes into the afternoon with a two-game winning streak, and have not lost since September 2.Â
The Women's match will feature two of the top goal scorers in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Carroll's
Blair Stapleton (Billings, Mont. / SR) leads the conference with 11 goals scored, and Oregon Tech's Maddie Miller is in second-place with five goals on the year.Â
The two schools are right in the thick of the CCC postseason race, and today's contest will be an important one in deciding the playoff seeding.
The Carroll Men (4-5-1, 3-4) are looking to get back on track after dropping a 1-0 game at the hands of Southern Oregon on Friday. The Saints will have their hands full as Oregon Tech (6-1-2, 5-1) enter the game on a three-game winning streak, outscoring opponents 21-0 in those three contests.
Oregon Tech is among the top teams in almost all CCC statistical categories, and the Saints will need to be at their best for a full 90 minutes if they hope to come out on top.
Phillip Camacho (Bullhead City, Ariz. / FR) has shown that he is able to go toe-to-toe with the best teams in the conference as of late, look for him to put heavy pressure on the Owls defenders.
