HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Men's Soccer team dropped a hard-fought match to Oregon Tech on Sunday in Helena, 2-1.
The Saints (4-6-1, 3-5) came into the afternoon looking to finish their weekend on a high-note after a loss on Friday, but would fall just short in their efforts.
Carroll took the first lead of the match in the 19th minute.
Blake Waldmann (Boise, Idaho / SO) fired a shot from the top of the box that froze the Owls' Keeper Joel Witts. Waldmann's beautiful blast found the top left corner of the net and put the Saints on top 1-0.
In the 25th minute, Oregon Tech (7-1-2, 6-1) would find the equalizer. Rosendo Juarez-Flores managed to sneak a ball past
Ryan Croft (Fleming Island, Fla. / JR) to tie the game at 1-1, where it would stay for the remainder of the half.
In the 60th minute, after a Carroll foul in the box, Oregon Tech's Dylan Nakagawa would bury a penalty kick goal into the bottom right corner of the net to give the Owls a 2-1 advantage.
Carroll would apply some heavy pressure in the late minutes of the game, but would ultimately be unable to score, leaving the final at 2-1.
Carroll will play at Walla Walla on Sunday in College Place, Washington at 2 p.m.
