BILLINGS, Mont. - The Carroll College Volleyball team lost in four sets to Rocky Mountain College Friday evening in Billings.
The Saints (12-12, 4-4) and the Battlin' Bears (16-13, 6-1) had played twice on the year heading into tonight's contest, with each team owning a victory. With both teams looking for the second win, Rocky would prevail in the third meeting of the season in four sets.
Carroll got into a hole early, losing a first set that went into extra points 28-26, with Rocky winning the second set as well, 25-20.
The Saints would not go down without a fight, winning a marathon fourth set, 30-28. The Bears would close out the Saints in the fourth set with a 25-15 win to end the night.
Errors plagued the Saints, who finished the night hitting just .077.
Katherine McEuen (Spokane, Wash. / SR) led the Saints with 13 kills. Lauren Sehenuk (Inglewood, Calif. / JR) finished with a game-high 7 blocks. Hannah Schweikert (Columbia Falls, Mont. / SO) added 42 assists, and Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / JR) picked up 41 digs.
Rocky's Bella Bryan led all players with 15 kills. Blythe Sealey had a game-high 49 assists, and Ayla Embry finished with 47 digs on the night.
With the season winding down, the Saints will return to Helena and get ready for a match with Providence next Thursday at the PE Center at 7 p.m.
