HELENA, Mont. - The No. 16 Carroll College Men's Basketball team opened their 2022-23 season with a win over the University of Lethbridge, 87-50 on Friday night at the PE Center.
It is a new year, and a new opportunity for the Carroll Men to chase after another Frontier Conference title and more. The Saints got off to a good start in their 2022-23 campaign, taking down the University of Lethbridge 87-50.
One thing is very apparent when watching the Saints. They have been, and will continue to be a good defensive team. That defensive prowess was on display tonight in the season opening win.
Carroll took a 41-18 lead into the halftime break, limiting the Pronghorns to just 26.7% from the field and forcing 10 turnovers. The Saints on the other hand, were extremely efficient on offense in the first half, closing the period 17-30 for 56.7%.
Lethbridge would narrow the margin early in the second half, but Carroll proved to be the stronger team, and pulled away for 46 second half points en route to an 87-50 victory.
Carroll scored 35 points off of turnovers in the game, and the bench accounted for 45 points in the win.
The Saints were led by Gui Pedra's (Sao Paulo, Brazil / JR) game-high 20 points on 7-7 shooting, while coming off the bench.
Isaiah Moore (Fairfield, Calif. / FR) made an impact in his first collegiate action, scoring 13 points to go along with four rebounds and two assists.
Andrew Cook (Huntington Beach, Calif. / SO) finished with 14 points and 7 boards.
The Pronghorns were led by Kymani Pollard, who finished his night with 10 points and an assist.
Carroll will play another Canadian school to close out the weekend when they host SAIT on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the PE Center.
