HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Volleyball team defeated No. 15 Montana Tech in a thrilling five-set match on Wednesday evening at the PE Center in Helena.

The 2022 Carroll College Volleyball team has an affinity for five-set matches and keeping Saints fans on the edge of their seats. The Saints (12-11, 4-3) would continue that season-long trend tonight, clawing back from a 2-1 deficit to knock-off No. 15 Montana Tech (21-7, 6-1), who was previously unbeaten in conference play, in five sets.

The Saints came out with plenty of energy in a back-and-forth first set, managing to hold on for a 25-23 win to start the evening. The Orediggers would go on two win the next two sets and take a 2-1 advantage heading into the fourth set. Carroll averaged just .063 hitting in the two dropped frames, while Montana Tech averaged .315.

Carroll would not be denied however, grinding out set four, 25-23, and surviving a late Montana Tech push to hold onto the deciding set, 15-13.

Elizabeth Heuiser (Helena, Mont. /SO) led the Saints with 15 kills. Hannah Schweikert (Columbia Falls, Mont. / SO) tallied 48 assists, and Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / JR) added 17 digs. Lauren Sehenuk (Inglewood, Calif. / JR) tied with Oredigger Taylor Henly for a game-high in blocks (5.0).

Montana Tech's Maureen Jessop finished with a game-high 23 kills, and Roslyn Zentz had a game-high 58 assists.

Carroll will have a quick turn-around, heading to Billings for a showdown with Rocky Mountain College (15-13, 5-1) on Friday at 7 p.m. The Saints have split a pair of matches with the Battlin' Bears on the season.
