DILLON, Mont. - The Carroll College Volleyball team beat Montana Western in straight sets, 3-0 tonight in Dillon, Mont.
Carroll wasted no time getting a win coming off of a week of rest. The Saints made quick work of the Bulldogs tonight, grabbing a three set win, something that they have not done very often this season. The sweep is a welcome change of pace for the Saints, who have become accustomed to five set back-and-forth matches.
Carroll came out of the gate hot, taking a 10-4 lead early in the first set. The Saints would keep the pressure on, and win the first set 25-20. The second set played out much the same, with Carroll winning 25-21. Montana Western would not go down without a fight however, pushing Carroll into extra points in order to win the third and final set, but the Saints would prevail 27-25.
Katherine McEuen (Spokane, Wash. / SR) was the leader offensively and defensively for Carroll, finishing the match with ten kills and 19 digs.
Elizabeth Heuiser (Helena, Mont. / SO) was right on her heels with 9 kills, and also added in 3 blocks on the defensive end.
Hannah Schweikert (Columbia Falls, Mont. / SO) finished with 32 assists on the night (10.6/set).Â
Carroll will now focus on a home rematch with No. 18 Montana Tech next Wednesday. The Saints will look to avenge a tight 3-2 loss in Butte last month.
