HELENA, Mont. -The Carroll Men's Soccer team held off the Northwest Eagles for a 2-1 win that resulted in the second win of the weekend for the Saints.
Robin Erickson got the scoring going for the Saints with a 41st minute goal assisted off a long ball in from Jack Bentson.
In the 62nd minute, a Rory Bloy pass led to a Birgir Gauti Stefansson finish that put the Saints up 2-0.
The Eagles responded soon after with a Tyler Hopp goal from Elliot Misic in the 69th minute to make it a 2-1 Carroll advantage.
Carroll was able to hold the Eagles to the one goal thanks to a very strong defensive performance that only allowed Northwest to 3 shots on goal.
Carroll proved to be the aggressor and took control of the game throughout, outshooting Northwest 18 shots (ten on goal) to Northwest's 10 shots (three on goal).
Thanks to a six point weekend, the Saints now find themselves in a four way tie for fourth place amidst the Cascade Conference standings.
Next weekend, the Saints will host Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech in a pivotal homestand Friday and Sunday at Nelson Stadium.
