HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll Women's Basketball team suffered their first conference loss of the season on Saturday afternoon 66-62 to Rocky Mountain College at the PE Center.
The game got off to an exciting start and it was clear that both teams were dialed in. After one quarter of play, the Battlin' Bears led 18-15.
In the second quarter, the game followed suit as it stayed close. A
Sienna Swannack three-pointer to close out the half cut the deficit to one point, as the Saints trailed 37-36 heading into the break.
It was Carroll who got the best of the Bears in the third quarter, outscoring them 16-12. Heading into the fourth quarter, the Saints led 52-49.
Rocky was able to close the game on a 17-10 run, headlined by two big three-pointers from Kloie Thatcher down the stretch, to earn themselves a 66-62 road win.
The Saints were led by an outstanding performance from
Sienna Swannack. Swannack scored 19 points on 7 of 11 shooting, and added five rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
Jamie Pickens had 16 points and eight rebounds, and
Christine Denny had 14 points and six rebounds.
Rocky saw yet another brilliant outing from N'Dea Flye. Flye scored a game high 30 points to go with 12 rebounds.
Carroll, now 15-3 on the year, will return to the hardwood on Thursday night as they head to Great Falls to take on the University of Providence.
