Carroll Women's Basketball falls at Providence

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Carroll Women's Basketball team suffered their second straight loss on Thursday night, falling to Providence 62-59 in Great Falls.

Early on in the game, it was a very fast-paced affair. Both teams were dialed in defensively, leading to a low scoring first quarter. The Argos led 13-12 heading into the second.

In the second quarter, the Argos found their footing offensively and outscored the Saints 17-12. Providence entered the half with a 30-24 lead.

It was Carroll who owned the third quarter. They found the shots they wanted offensively and took a two-point lead into the final period.

Providence dialed back in defensively down the stretch and was able to get a lead going into the final minute. Sienna Swannack got a look at a three-pointer that would have tied the game as time expired, but it was off the mark. The No. 22 Argos took down the No. 6 Saints by a final score of 62-59.

Emilee Maldonado was one of four Argos to score in double figures, reaching a game-high 17 points.

Sienna Swannack led the Saints with 12 points. Danielle Wagner and Jamie Pickens were right behind her with 11 points each.

Carroll, now 15-4 on the season and 3-2 in conference play, will now shift their focus to another road test against MSU-Northern on Saturday afternoon in Havre.
