HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll Men's Basketball team earned a second-straight win, beating Providence 81-72 at the PE Center on Saturday evening.
The Saints came out firing on all cylinders in the first half, outscoring Providence 47-35 in the opening 20 minutes. The first half was highlighted by the Saints shooting 50 percent or better from the field and from beyond the arc.
In the second half, the Argos cut the Saints' lead down to as few as five points. Carroll led 71-66 with five minutes to go, and then
Shamrock Campbell took over the game.
Campbell scored Carroll's final ten points down the stretch to clinch a 71-62 win. He would finish the game with a career-high 30 points, going 11-of-15 from the field and 5-of-7 from three-point land.
Andrew Cook scored 18 points as well for the Saints.
Garrett Long and
Jovan Sljivancanin added 12 and 10 points respectively.
Brendan Howard had another big game for the Argos, scoring 21 points on 10-of-15 shooting and grabbing 10 rebounds.
With Montana Tech's win over MSU-Northern, Carroll is one game behind the Orediggers heading into the final rotation of the Frontier Conference schedule.
The Saints, now 21-3 and 8-2 in conference play, will shift their focus to another big Frontier Conference matchup against MSU-Northern at the PE Center on Thursday night.
