BUTTE, Mont. – The Carroll Women's Basketball team secured their third straight win on Saturday afternoon, beating Montana Tech at the HPER Complex 64-57.
Things were slowly going on the offensive end for both teams out of the gate. At the end of a low-scoring first quarter, the Saints had a 12-9 lead.
Not much changed in the second quarter, as the defenses remained the star of the show. Carroll went into the half leading 25-17.
In the third quarter, both teams found their footing offensively.
Danielle Wagner caught fire for the Saints as they remained ahead by eight points entering the final period.
Wagner continued her ways down the stretch as the Orediggers were unable to close the cap in the fourth, despite a valiant effort. The Saints marched on to a 64-57 win over Montana Tech.
Danielle Wagner finished the contest with a game-high 26 points on 10 of 13 shooting. She was also 5 of 8 from the three-point line.
Brooke Heggie was the leading scorer for the Orediggers, scoring 18 points on 8 of 10 shooting.
Carroll, now 18-4 on the year and 6-2 in conference play, will now look ahead to a big week in which they will travel to Billings to face Rocky Mountain College before heading home to take on Providence.
