BUTTE, Mont. – The Carroll Men's Basketball team suffered their third loss of the season at the hands of Montana Tech on Saturday night in Butte. The final score was 73-58.
Montana Tech found their rhythm early on as they knocked down some outside shots and jumped out to a quick lead.
The game stayed tight throughout the first half as
Jovan Sljivancanin caught fire and the Saints provided an outstanding effort on the defensive end of the floor. The Orediggers took a 41-30 lead into the half.
In the second half, the depth and defense of the Diggers proved to be too much to handle. Carroll cut the deficit to single digits a couple different times, but in the end Montana Tech closed out the game with a 73-58 home win to earn sole possession of first place in the Frontier Conference.
Jovan Sljivancanin paced the Saints with 26 points and 13 rebounds, both of which were game highs.
Montana Tech was led by Sindou Diallo who scored 19 points. Diallo was 5 of 10 from the field and a perfect 8 for 8 at the free throw line.
Now 19-3 on the year and 6-2 in conference play, the Saints will begin preparation for a tough road test at Rocky Mountain College on Thursday before returning home to play Providence on Saturday.
