DILLON, Mont. – The Carroll volleyball team opened their Frontier Conference schedule with a 3-0 sweep of the Montana Western Bulldogs in Dillon on Friday night.
The Saints came out of the gate swinging to jump out to an early lead by winning the opening set 25-20.
In the second set, Western came clawing back. Carroll kept cool and stood their ground, taking the second set 27-25.
Carroll continued their rhythm into the third set to win it 25-22 and complete the sweep.
Lexi Mikkelsen put together a strong performance to help lead the Saints to their first conference win. The senior tallied a game-high nine kills and added one block.
Julia Carr also had a big game with 26 digs.
Danyel Martin led the attack with eight kills for the Bulldogs.
With this win, Carroll opens Frontier Conference play with a 1-0 record. They are now 8-9 on the year. You can catch the Saints in action at the PE Center on Wednesday night for their long-awaited home opener against rival Montana Tech. The game will begin at 7 p.m.
