Carroll Men's Soccer falls to Warner Pacific in offensive battle

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Saturday evening served as the back end of a double header of Cascade Conference action for the Carroll Saints men's soccer team. Unfortunately, a furious second half comeback was not enough to take down Warner Pacific as Carroll suffered its second conference loss of the year.

Carroll went into the half down 1-0 thanks to a Miguel Andalon-Cruz goal in the 34th minute.

Within the first fifteen minutes of the second half, Carroll found themselves in a 3-0 hole thanks to a goal from Arturo Bahena and a goal from Sunjoon Tenorio courtesy of a Bahena assist.

Shortly after, Santiago Morazzani buried a penalty kick to give the Saints life in the 64th minute, his first of two goals on the day.

Caleb Hoxie found the net on a 78th minute goal to bring the Saints within one goal at a 3-2 deficit, but shortly after, Arturo Bahena hurt the Saints again with a penalty kick putting Warner Pacific up 4-2.

Morazzani again fought back for the Saints with an 83rd minute goal, but unfortunately the late Saints flurry was not enough to complete the comeback.

Carroll shot 19 times (11 on goal) to Warner Pacific's 15 shots (10 on goal) and were able to mount many good opportunities on the Warner Pacific defense.

The Fighting Saints now drop to 2-4 overall on the season and 2-2 in Cascade Conference play, while Warner Pacific improves to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play, tallying off their 7th win in a row now.

The Saints look forward to next weekend when they host a pair of Cascade Conference foes in Northwest University and Evergreen State College Friday and Sunday at Nelson Stadium.
