HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College women's soccer team won their conference opener Friday afternoon at Nelson Stadium by a score of 2-0 over the Bushnell Beacons.
Bushnell is now 2-4 on the year after the loss and 0-1 in Cascade Conference play, while the Saints go up to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in Conference.
The Saints dominated the first half of the game as well as the second half (as indicated by the 31-2 shot differential), but it took the Saints until the 59
th minute to break the 0-0 tie. A cross by
Melissa Dugger led to a finish by
Jaymee Sheridan into the back of the net to gift the Saints the lead. Blaire Stapleton then sealed the victory with a goal in the 90
th minute to finish off the 2-0 victory.
In goal, Anabel Mendez saved 11 shots for Bushnell and did all she could to help the Beacons stay in it. Bushnell shot twice, both in the second half, both saved by
Sarah Conway, on her way to a clean sheet Friday afternoon.
The Saints are glad to be back on track as they head into another Conference battle, this time with undefeated Corban, who is outscoring opponents 8-1 in their first four games.
The match will be at 4 P.M. Sunday afternoon at Nelson Stadium. The game will be streamed on the
