HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College men's soccer team earned their first victory of the season Friday afternoon over Bushnell in their first conference bout of the year. The Saints tallied 6 goals to the Beacons' one.
The Saints got the scoring going early on with a score by
Nick Lowrimore in the 12
th minute, followed by
Rory Bloy and
Santiago Morazzani all within the first twenty minutes.
That trio for the Saints did most of the damage as Lowrimore scored twice and had one assist, Bloy converted three times and had an assist, and Morazzani scored and assisted.
Michael Sullivan also had an assist on Lowrimore's second goal in the middle of the second half.
The Saints 6-1 victory may not come as a surprise looking at the lopsided 20-5 shot on goal discrepancy in favor of Carroll.
Meanwhile in goal,
Kaden Connor was holding onto a clean sheet until Joel Kambou netted one in the 87
th minute. Connor did end the game with four saves, but Julian Hernandez also had a very strong day with fourteen saves of his own.
These are the first goals of the season for the Saints and they come at a good time this having been their first conference tilt and heading into a game Sunday against Corban who is currently slotted at 23
rd in the nation.
Corban has won their conference opener 4-0 over Walla Walla and have a 2-2 record thus far in the young season.
The match will be at 2 P.M. Sunday afternoon at Nelson Stadium. The game will be streamed on the
Fighting Saints Network sponsored by Point S Tire and Auto Service.
