LA CROSSE, Wisc. – The Carroll College volleyball team finished off their weekend in Wisconsin with a win and a loss on Saturday morning, losing to Viterbo and defeating William Penn.
Viterbo came out swinging in the opening game of the day. They were able to jump out to an early lead over the Saints, winning the first set 25-13.
After that, the V-Hawks kept it rolling. They won the second set 25-17 and the third set 25-21 to complete the sweep.
Kenzie Winker led the way on the front line for Viterbo with 11 kills. Setter Abbey Johnson had 25 assists for the V-Hawks.
Taelyr Krantz, a senior from Helena, Mont., put together another strong game. She led the Saints with 11 kills and three blocks.
In the second game, it was the Saints who came out of the gate swinging against William Penn.
The first set was a close one, but the Saints inched it out by a score of 25-23. From that point forward, it was a dominant performance by Carroll.
Carroll won the second set 25-10 and the third set 25-20 as they went on to sweep William Penn.
Taelyr Krantz made the most of the three sets in the Saints' sweep totaling 15 kills and four blocks.
Macy Bailey, the setter for the Statesmen, had an impressive 19 assists in the loss.
