Carroll Volleyball drops two to open the weekend

CALDWELL, Idaho – The Carroll Volleyball team dropped their first two games of the weekend on Friday at the C of I/Eastern Oregon fall classic in Caldwell.
 
The Saints fell to Eastern Oregon three sets to zero before dropping the second game to Dordt (Iowa) three sets to one.
 
In the first game, sophomore libero Julia Carr from Portland, Ore., had a busy outing on the back line. She finished with 22 digs.
 
Eastern Oregon setter Hannah Ledgerwood was in the middle of the action for the mountaineers, finishing the game with 18 assists.
 
In the second game of the day, the Saints dropped the opening set before taking the second to even the score. Dordt won the third set 25-17 and set themselves up with a chance to clinch the game.
 
Carroll put up a fight in the fourth set, but Dordt was able to fend them off and take it 26-24.
 
Hannah Schweikert, a freshman from Columbia Falls, Mont., made her presence felt in the second game with 23 assists.
 
Corrina Timmermans led the way for the Defenders with 22 kills.
 
The Saints return to the court on Saturday for another pair of games. At 11 a.m. they will take on College of Idaho and they will wrap up the weekend with a 3 p.m. game against The Master's (Calif.).
