Saints sweep Skylights for fifth straight victory

HELENA, Mont. Carroll Volleyball swept the Montana State-Northern Skylights on Saturday afternoon to win their fifth straight match and secure an undefeated weekend. With this win, the Saints are now 5-1 on the year while Northern is now 1-5.

The Saints started the game strong, picking up where they left off from Friday's win, as they took the first set by a score of 25-20.

Then in the second set, the Skylights started to make a push as they jumped out to a 7-2 lead. After coach Moe Boyle called a timeout, the Saints took all the momentum back and surged to a 25-19 win.

In the third and final set, the game stayed close as Carroll looked at a 22-21 lead with a chance to seal the game. They then rattled off three straight points to complete the sweep.

For MSU-Northern, they were led on the attack by Elissa Lind, who finished with 13 kills. Lind is a senior from Hardin, Mont.

Lexi Mikkelsen, a junior from Nine Mile Falls, Wash., tallied 15 kills today to lead the Saints attack. Taelyr Krantz, a junior from Helena, also had a tremendous game as she finished with 12 kills on 20 attempts.
