Carroll Volleyball falls to Rocky 3-1

Billings, MONT. -- The Carroll Volleyball team fell to the Rocky Mountain Battlin' Bears on Friday Night, three sets to one.

In the first set, it came down to the wire but Rocky got the best of Carroll 26-24.

Things stayed interesting in the second set as the score went beyond 25 once again. Carroll was able to prevail and get even, taking it 29-27. 

With the match even at 1-1, Rocky turned on the jets in the third set. The Bears pulled away, winning the set by a score of 25-19.

Trailing 2-1, the Saints went into the fourth looking to get even. Carroll held the lead in the fourth and final set most of the way, but a late run by Rocky finished things off 25-22. 

Taelyr Krantz, a junior from Helena, Mont., finished with 21 kills on 41 attempts to lead the way for the Saints.

Reigning Frontier Conference Defender of the Week, Ayla Embry, held things together on the back line for the Battlin' Bears. Embry, a sophomore from Bozeman, Mont., had 25 digs. 

Carroll is now 5-2 on the season, moving into a tie for second place in the Frontier with Providence. With the win, Rocky now sits atop the conference with a record of 6-1.

These two teams will face off again Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Fortin Education Center.
