CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Carroll Men's Basketball team wrapped up the Cactus Classic with an 86-48 blowout win over Embry-Riddle.
The Saints came out hot in this one, as they went on a 22-5 run in the first seven minutes of action. After 20 minutes of action, Carroll led the Eagles 44-23.
Things were no different in the second half as the Saints continued to extend their lead. A strong defensive effort by Carroll, including 16 forced turn overs, set them up for an 86-48 final score.
The Carroll victory was highlighted by a great performance on the board. They out rebounded Embry-Riddle 46-24.
A season-high 27 points from
Jovan Sljivancanin highlighted a strong offensive performance for the Saints. Sljivancanin also had 12 rebounds and five assists.
Ifeanyi Okeke added 13 points.
Gui Pedra (14 points),
Andrew Cook (14 points), and
Jaedon Lieberg (seven points) combined for 35 of Carroll's 40 bench points.
Leading the way for Embry-Riddle was Conner Verdugo with 17 points.
Now 14-1 on the season, the second-ranked Saints will get a rest over the holiday before returning to the PE Center to play against Dickinson State on January 1.
