BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Carroll Women's basketball team fell short in an exhibition game 69-60 at Montana State on Tuesday afternoon.
It was an exciting start at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, as the Saints jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead. In the latter half of the first quarter, the Bobcats caught fire and took a 23-14 lead into the second.
The Saints were able to respond in the second quarter by outscoring MSU 16-10. They cut the half time deficit to three points, with the score being 33-30 after two.
The third quarter was a big one for the Bobcats. They outscored the Saints 23-14, and reached a lead as large as 14 points.
MSU entered the fourth quarter with a 57-43 lead, but the Saints refused to go down easy. Carroll got within six points with four and a half minutes remaining, and outscored the Bobcats 17-12 in the final period, but in the end Montana State emerged victorious with a 69-60 win.
Sienna Swannack paced the Saints in scoring with 16 points, which was tied for the game-high.
Reigning Frontier Conference Player of the Week,
Christine Denny, continued with her outstanding play. She scored 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and added three assists.
The Bobcats had a pair of players with sixteen points in Lindsey Hein and Katelynn Limardo. The two of them finished a combined 11-15 from the field.
Carroll will now shift their sites toward their Thursday night home matchup with Bushnell University. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
