HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll Women's Basketball team earned a dominant 96-43 victory over No. 22 Bushnell University on Thursday night at the PE Center.
In what was a wire-to-wire victory for the Saints, Carroll got things going early on and jumped out to a 25-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Bushnell was able to hang tight with Carroll in the second quarter. The Saints outscored the Beacons 15-14 in the second period to take a 40-27 lead into the half.
The third quarter is when the Saints really ran away the game. Carroll went on a 9-0 run to kick-off the second half and ended up outscoring Bushnell 30-9 in the third quarter.
The Saints kept it rolling in the fourth quarter and outscored the Beacons 26-7 to reach an impressive 96-43 win over a top 25 opponent.
Danielle Wagner was the leading scorer for the Saints, finishing the game with 18 points. She was 4 of 7 from the three-point line. Right behind her was
Jamie Pickens with 16. The three other Carroll starters,
Sienna Swannack,
Kamden Hilborn, and
Christine Denny all also finished in double figures.
Aspen Slifka led the way for the Beacons with a team-high 14 points on 5 of 12 shooting.
Carroll is now 4-1 this year. They will have a lengthy rest before returning to the hardwood next Wednesday night against Our Lady of the Lake University at 5 p.m.
