HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll Women's Basketball team won their third straight game on Sunday afternoon, defeating Corban 78-51 at the PE Center.
The first quarter was very defensive early on, with both teams keeping each other at bay.
Christine Denny powered the Saints to a 17-12 lead at the end of the first, with nine points in the quarter.
Corban started off the second quarter with a 5-0 run to tie the game up, but Carroll caught fire and answered with an 18-3 run of their own. At the half, the Saints led 40-28.
In the third quarter, the Saints opened up with a 7-0 run and outscored the Warriors 20-8. Carroll took a 60-36 lead into the fourth quarter and ran with it toward a 78-51 final score.
Christine Denny led the way for the Saints with an impressive 20 points on 7-10 shooting and 2-3 from beyond the arc. She also added six rebounds.
Danielle Wagner and
Sienna Swannack also finished in double figures with 15 and 11 points respectively.
Leading the way for Corban was Halle Wright, who finished with 13 points including nine free throws.
With the win, Saints' head coach
Rachelle Sayers set the all-time wins record for Carroll Women's Basketball with 202.
Carroll will head to Bozeman on Tuesday for an exhibition game at Montana State starting at 12 p.m. They will also host Bushnell University on Thursday night at 6 p.m.
