Carroll Volleyball bested by Providence in five sets

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Carroll Volleyball team lost a tight one against the Argos of Providence in five sets.
 
The Argos, who entered the night undefeated in conference play, jumped out to an early lead after taking the first set 25-22.
 
In a 1-0 hole, the Saints bounced back in strong fashion. Carroll won the second set 25-21.
 
The third set was highly contested. Providence prevailed and edged out the Saints 25-23 to take a 2-1 lead.
 
Once again, Carroll had their back against the wall and faced defeat. They clawed back a second time to even up the match at two sets a piece.
 
The Argos proved to be too much to handle in the fifth set. They were able to maintain their unbeaten conference record after taking the fifth set 15-10.
 
For the Saints, Taelyr Krantz led the way with 18 kills and 9 blocks. Julia Carr had 27 digs and Hannah Schweikert had 31 assists.
 
Jenna Thorne had 17 kills to lead the way for the Argos. Sacha Legros added 29 digs and Cydney Finberg-Roberts had an impressive 53 assists.
 
Carroll will have a quick turn-around as they now prepare for their final conference bout with MSU-Northern. The game will be played in Havre on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
