Helena, Mont. – Carroll College Cross Country heads to the NAIA National Championships in Vancouver, Wash. this Friday November 19.
The race will cap off a tremendous season for the Saints as both teams won the Frontier Conference Championship last weekend in Dillon, Mont. The women ranked 16
th in the latest NAIA poll, while the men slipped just outside of the Top 25. Both teams will meet their toughest competition yet in a race that boasts 36 teams and around 350 total competitors on either side.
Most athletes have achieved personal records at some point this fall, and seven athletes will make up the Nationals squad on each side.
Madison Harmer,
Elly Machado,
Katelyn McKay,
Andria Mourich,
Reghan Worley,
Natalie Yocum, and
Hanna Ziegenhagen will compete for the women. For the men,
Jonah Fisher,
Van Gottwals,
Aidan Jarvis, Patrick Keeley,
Mark Richter,
Zach Rector, and
Spencer Swaim will race.
"We're looking to carry our momentum from a season of confidence building and growth into this weekend," said Head Coach
Shannon Flynn. "We bring the best depth and experience to Nationals that we have in a long time. I'm going to be proud of them no matter what, but I do think if we put together a great day across the board it will lead to a special result."
Conditions have been rainy this week in Vancouver, and that trend is expected to continue and may lead to a wet, muddy course. "We're reminding ourselves that the worse it is the better we are," shared Flynn.
The men's 8k will begin at 10:30 am PST (11:30 MST), and the women's 5k will begin at 11:30 am PST (12:30 MST). The race will be streamed live at
