HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Men's Basketball team came away with a hard-earned victory, 77-74 over Eastern Oregon Sunday afternoon at the PE Center.
The first half saw a flurry of made shots by both teams in the early minutes. It was a back and forth game for the first eleven minutes.
Ifeanyi Okeke kick-started the Saints who finished the half on a 14-9 run to open up a 9 point Carroll lead.
After the break, the Mountaineers cut in to the lead with several quick baskets. The Saints managed to keep EOU at bay however, and maintained a one point lead for much of the second half. The Mountaineers were able to grab a two point lead late in the game, but a
Shamrock Campbell 3 pointer gave Carroll a lead they wouldn't surrender.
The Saints relied on three upperclassmen to pull off the win. Senior Guard
Shamrock Campbell once again led the Saints in scoring, finishing with 23 points. Junior Forward
Ifeanyi Okeke added 18 points, and Senior Forward
Jovan Sljivancanin recorded 17 points alongside 14 rebounds for his second double-double of the weekend.
The Mountaineers were led by Senior Guard Max McCullough, who finished with a game-high 26 points, 22 of which came in the second half.
Carroll College will get some rest this week before their next game, Friday at 8 pm at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington.
