La GRANDE, Ore. – The Carroll Men's Soccer team suffered a tough 1-0 loss to the Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon in La Grande on Friday evening.
In the first half of the match, the two teams combined for nine total shots. Despite the opportunities, the first 45 minutes wrapped up in a scoreless tie.
Shortly after the start of the second half, the Mountaineers got on the board. Rudy Salinas-Solorio found Ryan Brown in the 58
th minute to give EOU a 1-0 lead.
Following the goal, Eastern was able to hold strong and secure a victory despite the Saints taking seven second half shots.
Carroll finished the game with 12 total shots, eight of which were on target. Eastern was right there with them on the shot count, totaling 11 shots and five shots on goal.
The Saints will now shift their sites to Sunday afternoon and a crucial game against College of Idaho. The Yotes are coming off of a blowout win over Walla Walla.
Carroll is now in ninth place in the CCC table, with College of Idaho leaping up to fifth. Sunday will present the Saints with an opportunity to make a move in the standings before the final weekend of play.
