HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College Fighting Saints golf team will host Frontier Conference competition on Tuesday at Bill Roberts Golf Course during the Carroll College Invitational. 

It's the second tournament of the fall season for the golf team. 

"It's a great opportunity to try and better your position as an individual and as a team," Saints coach Bennett MacIntyre said. "We are going to be a little short handed this week with some injuries but I'm expecting to see some lower scores posted than what we shot in the first tournament of the year in Butte."

The Saints will look to draw from their home course. With COVID-19 limiting the amount of holes played this season, the Saints should have a bit of a leg up on Tuesday. 

"Anytime you can use home course knowledge and experience you really want to take advantage of it," MacIntyre said. "We have had some good preparation for this tournament and really focused on getting off to better starts."

The women's golf team started the season with a second place finish as a team, while the men were paced by Samuel Berry's 71 to open up the season. MacIntyre expects some more low-scoring rounds from the Saints. 

"Samuel Berry put himself in great shape after the first tournament, he should be in contention all day tomorrow," MacIntyre said. "I expect a rebound performance from Josh Neth and Rex Irby has done a terrific job getting into tournament shape and being competitive. On the women's side they have really been pushing each other to post some lower scores. Would definitely like to see some of our lady Saints in the 70s.  Caroline Hobson, Katie Fagg and Weslee Nehl are all more than capable."  
 
The tournament is scheduled to tee off at noon tomorrow. 

NOTES: This is the second of four fall season tournaments for the Saints. Carroll will go to Anaconda and Billings to conclude the fall schedule… Jonny Hillman, Jack Bentson and Sydnee Nowlen will not compete for the Saints this week.
