HELENA, Mont. -- With the conference season just underway, the Carroll College Fighting Saints softball team looked forward to making a run in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, it meant the end of a season. And for the Fighting Saints seniors, it meant the end of their college careers.

It wasn't the way anybody envisioned nor wanted the season to end.

In lieu of the traditional Senior Day Weekend, Carroll College Athletics is highlighting our seniors and including one final memory from their time at Carroll College.

Congratulations to the seniors --  Anna ApRoberts, Ali Williams, Kendall Mooney, Megan McCormick, Courtney Schroeder, Brooke Brown and Brooke Yarnall. Carroll Athletics wishes you the best in your bright futures.

"I would like to thank these seven seniors for their commitment and quest to leave Fighting Saints Softball better than when they arrived," Saints coach Aaron Jackson said. "Each of these student-athletes played different roles during their careers and each of them played those roles to the best of their ability. Each was willing to do what was best for the team in order for the Saints to be at their best. I wish each of them the best in their future endeavors that will cover many different areas, from computer science, to business, to the healthcare industry, and in the classroom. It's a great day to be a Fighting Saint."

ApRoberts senior day

ApRoberts will leave Carroll as one of the most decorated Saints in softball's history. She will graduate with a degree in accounting and finance and minors in business administration and theology. The senior from Portland, Oregon, was a NFCA all-region selection her junior year, as well as a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete and a first team all-CCC performer. The second baseman was also selected as academic all-conference twice and NFCA all-academic once. She was an honorable mention all-CCC performer her sophomore year and a second team all-CCC player her freshman year. She appeared in 141 games for the Saints and held a batting average of .322 with 68 RBI and 11 home runs.

ApRoberts: "I want to thank all of my teammates that I have played with here at Carroll. Thank you for constantly pushing me to get better in everything I do and for supporting all of my dreams on and off the field. Thank you to the coaching staff for taking a chance on me, believing in me, and helping me grow on and off the field. Thank you to everyone in the Carroll Community for your unending support for all of the students at the school. Thank you all for inspiring us to learn and grow into the people God created and calls us to be.

Thank you to all my past coaches and teammates for helping me achieve my goals and get to this final "Senior Day." Most of all, thank you to my parents and my sister. Thank you for supporting me, loving me, and traveling with me and for me. Thank you for the sacrifices you made so that I could chase my dreams. Dad, thank you for sitting on a bucket and catching for me for 10 years. Thank you for pushing me to be my best and for never letting me settle. Mom, thank you for constantly encouraging me and helping me look at things in new ways. Thank you both for the best hugs after games and for being the best life coaches I could ask for. Sis, thank you for being the best big sister a girl could ask for. Thank you for leading me and for showing me how to learn and grow through life changes. I love you all so much and I am so thankful to be part of our crazy family.

I could not imagine a better four years that I will look back on and always be thankful for. I am so grateful for the lifelong friends that I gained during my time on this team. Seniors, this may not have been the way we pictured our Senior Day, but know that I am so thankful for the past four years with you all."

This sport has given me so much the past 17 years: It's given me lots of love, laughter, friends, family, countless memories, a few black eyes, and so much more. I feel so blessed to have been able to continue my career here as a Saint. Carroll Softball gave me a family, and for that I am forever grateful.

To my family -- words can never thank all of you enough for coming and supporting me wherever you could! Thank you to all the grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles, cousins, Austin, my amazing host family, the Nelson's, and the Daily family for everything. Lastly, thank you Mom, Dad, and Kellen. You've done everything to get me to this moment. Thank you for all the miles traveled and love you've given me. I couldn't have done any of this without all of your support. I love you all so, so much!

Thank you Aaron, Sarah, John, and Allison for the opportunity to play the sport that I love at Carroll.

To my fellow seniors, I love you all so much and have loved the last four years playing by your sides! You guys have been the best of friends and I can't wait to see where we all go from here! You guys are family.

Thank you for the last four years, I have loved wearing purple and gold. As always, Go Saints!"

McCormick senior day

McCormick: "I am forever thankful for my four years as a Carroll Saint. I'm the 46th person in my family to be a Fighting Saint and growing up I told myself that I would never go to Carroll because everyone in my family goes to Carroll, but I am so thankful that I did. Carroll College gave me the opportunity to live out my dreams as a college athlete, but Carroll gave me so much more than that. Carroll taught me So many lessons about life that I will take with me after I leave Helena and over the course of four years total strangers turned into my best friends that I can't imagine my life without. My years at Carroll we're filled with so many laughs and memories that I will cherish forever.

I want to say thank you to my amazing support system while at Carroll. Even though I was 12 hours from my hometown I was constantly surrounded by family. With grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and more in Helena, I never felt alone. Thank you Robinson family for everything you did for me. I can't thank you enough!

Choosing to continue my education and softball career at Carroll was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Carroll truly is 'Not For School, But For Life.' My softball career may be over and my degree is nearly completed, but I will forever be a Fighting Saint."
