Box Score 2 HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College Fighting Saints softball team went 1-1 to open up the season in California on Friday.
The Saints fell to William Jessup 10-4 before they bounced back to defeat No. 25 Marymount 9-3.
"Today was a good opening day," Saints coach
Aaron Jackson said. "Game one was disappointing as I thought we did enough on offense but struggled to keep the game in check. But credit to this team as they battled back and got a huge Top 25 win over Marymount.
Emma Hamilton had a monster day going 4-for-4 with a home run and was only a triple short of the cycle. Also
Anna ApRoberts had a solid day with a huge home run to break open game two.
Abby Hanley got her first win as a Saint with a big performance from the circle. After the first inning she settled in and controlled a solid Marymount lineup. We will look to build on this tomorrow with two more games."
The Saints take on Arizona Christian and Saint Katherine on Saturday. The first game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. MST.
