Box Score 2 HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College Fighting Saints softball team fell twice on Saturday to No. 19 College of Idaho in Ontario, Oregon.
The games were played at Treasure Valley Community College after College of Idaho's field was deemed unplayable.
COI (8-5, 2-1) won the series 2-1 after the Saints (5-4, 1-2 Cascade Collegiate Conference) claimed the first game 13-4 on Friday.
GAME 1
The Fighting Saints fought back to take a 4-3 lead in the sixth inning, but a four-run response in the bottom of the frame proved to be the difference as COI won 7-5 in the first game on Saturday.
The Saints tied the game in the fourth inning after Ali Williams drew a leadoff walk.
Jessica Nimmo slapped an RBI double, while two more scored after a throwing error.
Jessica Nimmo cranked a home run over the left field wall to give the Saints a 4-3 lead in the sixth inning, but then the Yotes took over.
Lauren Gordon hit a two RBI single, then the Yotes scored on a pair of dropped fly balls.
The Saints scored another one in the seventh after a fielding error, but stranded the go-ahead scores on base to end the game.
Kendall Mooney led the Saints with a 3-for-4 game in the batter's box.
COI pitcher Loryn Fonger (4-0) got the win on the mound with her one inning of work.
GAME 2
Carroll fell in the second game 6-4.
Carroll drew first blood after
Anna ApRoberts slapped a home run over the left-field wall.
COI responded in the bottom of the first inning with three runs. A Hannah McNerney double scored three runners for the Yotes.
The Saints knotted the game at three in the top of the second inning when
Natalie Gaber hit a RBI single and then scored during a double play later in the inning.
COI seized the lead for good in the bottom of the second when Gordon singled down the right field line to score another run, 4-3.
The Yotes added another run in fourth and sixth innings to extend their lead to 6-3.
Carroll found another run when
Courtney Schroeder hit a sacrifice fly after the Saints led off the top of the inning with two base runners. A pair of fielder's choices ended the Saints' last ditch attempt however.
Anna Davidson and Gaber each led the Saints with a pair of hits.
Loryn Fonger (4-0) got the win on the mound for COI.
