HELENA, Mont. -- The No. 9-ranked Carroll College Fighting Saints men's basketball team held a four-point lead with seven minutes remaining, but a cold spell late in the game led to No. 8 Providence seizing control and a 74-66 victory on Saturday night in Great Falls.
The Saints (14-6, 5-3 Frontier Conference) had four players in double figures, led by
Dane Warp's 15 points, but couldn't score down the stretch as UP's defense tightened.
Joining Warp in double figures were
Jovan Sljivancanin with 12,
Gaven Ramirez with 11 and
Dennis Flowers III with 10.
Providence (18-2, 6-2) got a game-high 25 points from Brandon Cotton.
After
Shamrock Campbell gave the Saints a 62-58 lead with seven minutes remaining, the Argonauts outscored Carroll 17-4 the rest of the way.
The Fighting Saints next take on the Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears in Billings before returning home to face Montana Western.
